My son-in-law told me he thought "Cursive" writing was a dying art.  (CURSIVE-You know the handwriting we learned in elementary school, the Palmer Method for penmanship. ) Kids are now allowed to print their homework and handwriting is a personal choice. (I think I am showing my age!!)  He is a Graphic Designer who specializes in fonts and has created a few unique ones of his own so he must know what he is talking about. ( Check out Digital Kitchen, a graphic design firm in Chicago and the title font for the HBO series TRUE BLOOD, which is his work.) If this is truly the case then this typewriter will be fabulous for the collector. It is from the 1970's, an Escort 55 by Montgomery Ward, a vintage manual typewriter with cursive font. with a dual ribbon it types in red and black It was made in Spain and it is a CURSIVE font typewriter!!! Too bad I do not know how to spell Etsy!! They are calling it script type on this sticker which is still attach...

My husband and I go to estate sales and flea markets, resale shops and garage sales.  We tend to pick up the old, discarded printer drawers.  The ones we gravitate towards are usually in some back corner, covered in dust! The drawers were used by printers to hold the alphabet print blocks for newspapers in days gone by. The printer would have a bureau or dresser full of these drawers and they would slide out.  He would have his pick the the blocks. Printer drawer The drawers have lots of little dividers that are perfect spot for little figurines,coins, thimbles, collectibles, treasures etc. Add legs and you can make a funky, retro, coffee table So the hubby and I made one of these  drawers into a coffee table.  We had the legs and frame of an old mid-century modern table laying in the garage.   My husband,Len, mounted the printer drawer by making a frame for on top of the legs.   I found a piece of glass that would cover said drawer....

After having spent seven months living in New Mexico I purchased a sizable pottery collection.  Many of the pieces were obtained at estate sales, garage sales, resale shops, antique stores and art galleries.  The southwest has so many wonderful potters, I couldn't help my self!  When I arrived home to Illinois I began looking up a  few of the pieces and I soon realized I had some nice mid-century modern pieces. What intrigues me about pottery is its form and function.  It has beautiful, clean, smooth lines, a true work of fine art and is usable art for everyday living.  Pottery used as a vase, drinking vessel, bowl has been around for centuries. Perhaps I will part with some of my pieces and place them in the shop, but for now I think I will keep my collection and enjoy it.  The small, dark, navy blue vessel with the black interior in the center of this photo is my own pottery creation!  I might as well have my own pottery in my collection.
