A blog to support the mother/daughter team of Babs and Bec and their vintage hobby shop on Etsy. Babs will discuss mid-century modern, her private collection, vintage items, her original art work and their REMIX items in the shop.
Cool Shop RetroBabs. I look forward to seeing more Mid-Century Modern treasure. You know, I have a Marcel Breuer Wassily B3 chair, also known as the Kandinsky Chair. Its original. It is the essential piece of Mid Century Modern furniture, and here I've had it all along in my basement in CA. Maybe you would like to sell it on your Etsy store. Scott M-H
I looked up the auction price for my chair. If it is original as I suspect (many levels of "original" as in manufacturer, tags, stamping etc. The very first chairs were manufactured by a German company [Standard-Mobel Lengyel & Co] between 1926 and 1932. After this the design was licensed at various companies ranging from Gavina to Thonet, interrupted by the war, then the cold war, Breuer immigrated to the US and redesigned it a bit etc...)...anyway, it could be worth $20,000 - $30,000. Whoa. Maybe I'll do a little more research.
