Chicago Vesties Meet Up

On Friday evening, March 12th, four members of the Chicago Vintage Etsy Society Street Team (Vesties) met at the home of RetroBabs. Their fearless leader, Martha, was the main attraction. Martha the owner of Open Door Studio  vintage shop, Julia of Basya Berkman vintage clothing and Lisa of A Blast from the Past  vintage shop were present.
Wonderful VIOLET martinis were served compliments of Lisa! Here the ladies toast the success of Team Vesties which will soon have over 600 members!

Babs put on a spread of homemade chicken salad, veggies with dip and cheese cake. The ladies appreciated Bab's vintage collection of atomic Starburst and Temporama dishes.
The group chatted and visited around the table as they picked Martha's brain for Etsy knowledge and tips. She was a plethora of information!
After a fantastic evening the ladies parted ways vowing to meet up again soon. Martha's dream is that other area groups within the Vesties Team will also meet up in person and start developing friendships.

I would like to feature a wonderful artist today. Adrien Miller is a potter, a painter and a sculptor. He is a visual artist and creates pottery and paintings of the human form. Blog Post ala' RetroChalet- Cindy

I wanted to give a shout out to Cindy at RetroChalet , she is what I call my "Wifey" and our two shops are "married" in spirit.  She is my Etsy mentor. Cindy has been so helpful to me, she's always ready to comment and critique the RetroBabs Vintage shop. Recently, we has a discussion about Titles and Tagging of items on Etsy. I had this item titled as a Red Apple Canister but Cindy came up with 20 other ideas for the title and tags.  Red Delicious and Cookie Jar to be the few that were excellent.  Her take on the issue was the fact that the more "HITS" one gets for an item -the greater the chance for a sale.  The Canister and Cookie jar folks might also include an apple collector and a lover of vintage.  The more ground you cover the more people you can reach. Etsy Recyclers Guild Team

I joined a new team on Etsy, it is called Etsy Recyclers Guild Team. They are a group of eco-artist and vintage shop owners, they believe in recycling, reuse, re-create, and repurposing.
