My new art work using vintage items

I thought you Etsy fans might like to see what I make out of vintage items and I sell in my art world as Barb!  I paint in watercolors and I am a member of the Village Artists in Homewood, IL.  This is an artist co-op and we share the gallery space and the studio space.  I make these paintings to fit these vintage boxes that I find at antique shops and resale shops.  I am always coming up with new ideas.  


 I also use vintage items in my art displays for shows.  Here is a photo of my work displayed inside vintage suitcases.  I think it works well as the backdrop for the paintings and REMIX pottery jewelry I make.

I would like to feature a wonderful artist today. Adrien Miller is a potter, a painter and a sculptor. He is a visual artist and creates pottery and paintings of the human form. His studio is based in Seattle and is a member of the Etsy Recyclers Guild Team, as am I. I randomly chose his sculpture in a Treasury before I actually began talking to him for this interview. Blog Post ala' RetroChalet- Cindy

I wanted to give a shout out to Cindy at RetroChalet , she is what I call my "Wifey" and our two shops are "married" in spirit.  She is my Etsy mentor. Cindy has been so helpful to me, she's always ready to comment and critique the RetroBabs Vintage shop. Recently, we has a discussion about Titles and Tagging of items on Etsy. I had this item titled as a Red Apple Canister but Cindy came up with 20 other ideas for the title and tags.  Red Delicious and Cookie Jar to be the few that were excellent.  Her take on the issue was the fact that the more "HITS" one gets for an item -the greater the chance for a sale.  The Canister and Cookie jar folks might also include an apple collector and a lover of vintage.  The more ground you cover the more people you can reach. Etsy Recyclers Guild Team

I joined a new team on Etsy, it is called Etsy Recyclers Guild Team. They are a group of eco-artist and vintage shop owners, they believe in recycling, reuse, re-create, and repurposing.
