Wear the Heart Is shop on Etsy

My good friend Marie from Wear the Heart Is shop included us in a Treasury called Conversations.  I think it is a wonderful theme and title because she and I have had several conversations over the past few months. One thing I have discovered about Etsy is that it is a community of people helping people.  We want each other to succeed and everyone helps each other out.  Wonderful!

Here she featured our Fire King glass dishes, set for 4. Fire King was a contemporary of Pyrex and GlassBake, they all made tempered glass dishes.   Even though they are 50 years old they are still microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. Amazing!






We also were included in a Treasury by a new friend -from doeyedchicken. She included our California note pad in her Treasury about Organization.  Thanks so much!

At RetroBabs I am trying to change or re-vamp our shop into a more Mid-Century Modern vibe.  I love all the items form the 1950's and 1960's.   Wood paneling, teak, walnut, formica, philodendron plants in the corner, nylon covered sofa/davenport that would get a snag from the buckle on your black patten leather shoes, rec rooms with bars and  groovy ice buckets, handbags, gloves and a pill box hats were a must have.  I hope to impart this love, this "must have" feeling in the items I pick out for the Etsy shop!

I would like to feature a wonderful artist today. Adrien Miller is a potter, a painter and a sculptor. He is a visual artist and creates pottery and paintings of the human form. BARB's BLUE BARN aka' "She Shed"

I have lost 62 lbs since my last post! This is my before photo.  I feel so much better now. Hello friends, I know it has been ages since a post.  Lots of crazy things have happened from surgery to Covid 19 quarantine!! We have been doing some projects in our time off.  Our backyard had an old shed ,painted red, and rotting.  The hubby (Len) decided to help me paint, replace wood walls, and insulate to make a "She Shed". Rotted wood on the shed walls. This project took a week or more.  Len said we could have built a whole new shed !! We scraped and painted as best we could. Now it will be painted a safety blue.  This is paint Len found for free.  He  also made new barn doors for me. Finished painting the outside.  Now for the inside!! Blog Post ala' RetroChalet- Cindy

I wanted to give a shout out to Cindy at RetroChalet , she is what I call my "Wifey" and our two shops are "married" in spirit.  She is my Etsy mentor. Cindy has been so helpful to me, she's always ready to comment and critique the RetroBabs Vintage shop. Recently, we has a discussion about Titles and Tagging of items on Etsy. I had this item titled as a Red Apple Canister but Cindy came up with 20 other ideas for the title and tags.  Red Delicious and Cookie Jar to be the few that were excellent.  Her take on the issue was the fact that the more "HITS" one gets for an item -the greater the chance for a sale.  The Canister and Cookie jar folks might also include an apple collector and a lover of vintage.  The more ground you cover the more people you can reach. I eliminated useless descriptions that did not fall under the Relevancy criteria of Etsy and Google searches. She wrote a great article on the subject for the Handmadeology Blog   ca
