New Item, ReMix by Bec

Image
Here is a new item to be listed soon.  Bec is trying something different with her ReMix.  She made this lovely baby bib out of Vintage fabric.  It reminds me of the Wonder Bread pattern of dots.  The fabric is polyester so it is resistant to stains and spills, just what a busy Mom needs. It has a nifty Velcro closure and is plain orange on the back side. It will be listed soon, this is just a preview for you RetroBabs fans.

RetroBabs Vintage Featured on Handmadeology!

Image
RetroBabs Vintage and Remix is honored to be included in a great article about Upcycled Clocks.  In  the Etsy shop together with my daughter, Bec, we make ReMixed, Upcycled and Repurposed art work. Bec works on vintage fabric and I make Clocks out of Mid-Century modern Plates. We are very excited to be featured in the Handmadeology blog.  We love Tim and we are proud to be members of his team on Etsy.   We were so surprised when we went to our daily list of blog readings to find ourselves in a post from Cindy at RetroChalet about Upcycled clocks! The clock above is the Swiss Chalet pattern by Marcrest. This is the clock/plate featured in the article, Check it out -full article at RetroChalet's post!

Chicago Vesties Meet Up

Image
On Friday evening, March 12th, four members of the Chicago Vintage Etsy Society Street Team (Vesties) met at the home of RetroBabs. Their fearless leader, Martha, was the main attraction. Martha the owner of Open Door Studio   vintage shop, Julia of Basya Berkman vintage clothing and Lisa of A Blast from the Past   vintage shop were present. Wonderful VIOLET martinis were served compliments of Lisa! Here the ladies toast the success of Team Vesties which will soon have over 600 members! Babs put on a spread of homemade chicken salad, veggies with dip and cheese cake. The ladies appreciated Bab's vintage collection of atomic Starburst and Temporama dishes. The group chatted and visited around the table as they picked Martha's brain for Etsy knowledge and tips. She was a plethora of information! After a fantastic evening the ladies parted ways vowing to meet up again soon. Martha's dream is that other area groups within the Vesties Team will also meet up in person an...

Guest Blog: The best gifts!

Image
I am Bec, the daughter half of the mother/daughter team from RetroBabs Vintage and ReMix .  I make many things, but quilts are by and large my favorite gift to make and give away. Not only are they useful for years, almost no one doesn't like them. I always like to remind folks that I thought about them the whole time I worked on their quilt, and I try to design the quilt with the recipient in mind, and make something that is a reflection of who that person is to me (or their parents, because I make lots of quilts for the kids in my life!)
